The Flintstones was one of the top 10 grossing films of 1994. Elizabeth called the experience of working on the film “a giggle. “I did it basically for the premiere [which was held as a benefit for The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation], and because it was a giggle. I had a ball, and it was just short enough to not be boring. It came back in a flash how boring moviemaking is—you know, you work for one minute and then sit around for three hours. I don’t think I could do that for three months.”
John Goodman, who played Fred Flintstone, Elizabeth’s son in law in the film, admitted that he found it difficult to call her “a dried-up old fossil.” He also said that getting to work with her was a true pinch me moment in his career. “There's old-school movie stars and then there’s Elizabeth Taylor. She was at the zenith in her life and in films. I never thought I’d ever get to meet her”.
