Elizabeth and Mike Todd’s New York base was a beautifully appointed penthouse apartment spread over two floors at 715 Park Avenue. Located on the Southeast corner of Park Avenue and 70th Street on the Upper East Side, the eighteen-story building was designed by Emery Roth & Sons and completed in 1949.

Fans of the couple got a glimpse inside their Park Avenue bolthole when it served as a backdrop for their 1957 interview with Mike’s friend Edward R. Murrow on his TV show, Person to Person. Mike showed the veteran journalist some of the art lining the walls: a Monet, a Pissarro, and a Frans Hals. “All hand-painted, by the way, in case you don’t know,” Mike joked.

The penthouse, with elegant living rooms on each floor and natural light streaming through its many windows, also boasted a private roof terrace with views over bustling Park Avenue.
