The 64th Annual Academy Awards
The 64th Annual Academy Awards reunited Elizabeth with her friend and former co-star Paul Newman to present the Oscar for Best Picture on March 30, 1992. A clip from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) preceded their appearance on the Oscars stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. “Well, we were looking pretty good back then,” said Paul as they reached the podium, to which Elizabeth responded: “Hey, I think we’re still looking pretty good!” The audience roared its approval.
Elizabeth and Paul, two of Hollywood's greatest philanthropists, both wore the red AIDS ribbon. Elizabeth’s Valentino evening gown is of ivory silk crepe hand-embroidered with a sequined snow leopard.
The Oscar went to The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
