Elizabeth Taylor and the Academy Awards made their television debut together in the 1950s! The 25th Academy Awards was the first time the ceremony aired on TV. Later in the decade, she would attend the Oscars for the first time as a nominee—and celebrate the first anniversary of husband Mike Todd’s blockbuster Around the World in 80 Days with a televised extravaganza at Madison Square Garden.
